Rolling Hills Estates
Rolling Hills Estates (RHE) is a city in Los Angeles County and one of four cities in the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Situated on the northern side of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, facing Torrance, Rolling Hills Estates is mostly residential. The City of Rolling Hills Estates was incorporated in 1957.
“Horses and Rolling Hills Estates go together like a saddle and a bridle.” Part of the City’s Vision is to “Enhance the pastoral character of the community by preserving open space and promoting the equestrian lifestyle. Rolling Hills Estates is dedicated to protecting the community of vast open spaces, rolling hills and three-rail white fences,” according to the RHE city website.
The city operates the public riding rings, and PWEC Enterprises, Inc. manages the Peter Weber Equestrian Center (a municipal boarding stables). There are over 25 miles of scenic bridle trails throughout the City and a variety of equestrian-related activities which occur throughout the year. The South Coast Botanic Gardens is also located in RHE.
High school students living in Rolling Hills Estates have the choice to attend either of the two public high schools in the Palos Verdes Peninsula USD – PVPHS and PVHS. Palos Verdes Peninsula High School is located in Rolling Hills Estates. RHE is also home to several private schools, Chadwick School and Rolling Hills Country Day School.
